Happy Birthday, America! The United States turns 240 years old this year. Here are a few places to celebrate with family and friends this upcoming weekend.


ALPHARETTA:

Wills Park. On July 4th this family friendly event will feature inflatables, face paint, and balloon animals from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wristbands will be available for a nominal fee. There will also be music and food vendors from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Make sure to bring cash! They will not be accepting other forms of payment. A fireworks show will begin at dusk. Wills Park is located at 1825 Old Milton Parkway. For more information call (678) 297-6130.


CUMMING:

Cumming Independence Day Celebration. Come celebrate at the Cumming Fairgrounds July 3rd with an all age dance contest, food vendors, and children's activities including inflatables. This event begins at 6 p.m. and ends at 11 p.m. Bring a blanket to sit on for the fireworks display beginning at 9:30 p.m. Admission and parking is free! The celebration continue with a 4th of July Steam Engine parade the next day at 10 a.m. The parade will feature steam engines, antique tractors, antique cars , and festive floats. The fairgrounds are located at 235 Castleberry Road. For more information call (770)-781-3491.


GAINESVILLE:

Laurel Park. The Gainesville American Legion will host this all day event July 2nd. Park amenities include walking trails, a dog park, playground, picnic area, sprayground, and more! There will also be arts and crafts booths, and food vendors. The fireworks display will kick off at dusk. Bring $10 for parking. Laurel Park is located at 3100 Old Cleveland Highway.


WOODSTOCK:

City of Woodstock's July 4th Spectacular. The festival kicks off with a parade July 4th at 10 a.m. The route begins at Woodstock Elementary School on Rope Mill Road and ends at the Sam's Club near Highway 92. The festivities continue at the The Park at City Center from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. This includes music, arts and crafts, food vendors, and children's activities. The day concludes with fireworks at dusk in the Target Shopping Center parking lot at Highway 92 near 575. For more information call (770) 592-6000 ext. 1952.


BONUS:

University Yacht Club. Celebrating on the lake this year? Although the day's festivities are only for members and residents of the club, the fireworks display can be seen July 3rd by boat at dusk. The University Yacht Club is located at 6700 Yacht Club Road in Flowery Branch. For additional information call (770) 967-2814.
