Keep COOL This Weekend
Another HOT weekend is heading our way. With temperatures sweltering at 95 degrees this upcoming weekend, keep your family and friends cool by visiting some local watering holes. Don't forget to pack the sunscreen and picnic lunch and make the most of the summer sun.

This Forsyth County Park offers a playground, picnic area, and charcoal grills. Grab your camera! The park also features a covered bridge offering the perfect setting for family pictures. Most importantly, it is located around a river! Swim in the calm waters below the bridge, or walk further down to the falls. Bring a tube to slide down the rocks. At the bottom is a small pool off the main current. Its calm, shallow waters are ideal for little swimmers or non-swimmers. Pack sand toys for the kids and let them dig in the river sand to find rocks and fresh water clam shells.

The Outdoor Leisure Pool is fun for the whole family! The zero entry pool and splash pad accommodate even the youngest of patrons. This pool has a playground inside the pool! Kids are sure to stay wet with the sprays and jets on the playground. Watch out for the bucket at the top, it will dump when it gets full! The playground also includes water guns and slides providing endless entertainment! For young swimmers there is deeper water behind the playground so they can practice swimming.
For older kids and adults, be sure to check out the water slide. You must be over 48" to ride.
In addition to the splash ground and waterslide, the lazy river is open to young and old. There are two tracts. For the more adventurous, branch off to the right to experience sprays, water buckets, and jets. Hold onto your sunglasses! It's a bumpy ride.
The aquatic center is open daily during the summer. Monday through Saturday there are two session: 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. There is also a concessions stand. Children under 4 must have swim diapers. Non-swimmers and young swimmers should bring life vests. The lazy river does not offer floats or tubes.
Lake Lanier
There are several parks on the lake. Here are a few with beach access.

This park has lots to offer! Your family can enjoy volleyball, basketball, picnic areas, and swimming. Laurel Ridge Trail crosses through the park offering a nice walking trail. The park is located off Buford Dam Road off of 400 exit 14 not far from Market Place Boulevard. Pack the sand toys and sunscreen and enjoy this Lanier beach.

- $5 per car, $1 per pedestrian, Under 12 free
You might be surprised to find this Lanier beach not far from downtown Cumming. It is located off 400 exit 14 and is close to shopping and restaurants. Though it is close to crowds at the heart of Cumming, you will find this park is all about nature! There are picnic tables, a boat ramp, and a nice sandy beach. It is perfect for relaxing, swimming, and playing in the sand.

This small park is perfect for swimming! Pack your inner tube and sand toys. At Vann's Tavern the water is clear and the beaches are sandy. It offers gorgeous views of Lake Lanier, so bring your camera as well. The park has restrooms, a boat launch ramp, and a dock in addition to the beach. Plus, pets are allowed!
